Boris Nemtsov Summer School of Journalism in Prague

The Boris Nemtsov Summer School of Journalism and Cultural Studies is a three-week, fully-funded  program to educate young journalists, bloggers, media activists, and researchers from Russia, Ukraine, the CIS region, Europe, and the U.S. on the core principles and norms of high-quality modern journalism.  The School is run by the Boris Nemtsov Foundation and hosted at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic) between July 15 and August 2, 2019.  The study program includes: academic sessions taught by leading journalists and media experts; workshops on the basics of filming; editing; and SMM-distribution. The study program aims at deepening participants‘ knowledge of the social, economic and cultural contexts of modern Russia. In addition, the program offers lectures that cover these subjects as well as film screenings followed by discussions, sightseeing tours, and visits to major media outlets based in Prague.  All participants must develop media projects for the completion of the study program. Concepts of media projects are presented and discussed during the workshops moderated by professional editors.  Each participant will be assisted by an individual supervisor.  All applicants are required to demonstrate solid command of the Russian language
